The IMDb summary does absolutely nothing for this film, which is brilliant. While the subjects covered in this film are tough topics to tackle, the writers have carried it off superbly. And the casting for short films we’ve reviewed seems to go from strength to strength.

The film features a young aspiring YouTuber named Vendela who seems to have a very twisted idea of what “going too far” means. Either that or she’s well aware of what she’s doing and she’s doing it, anyway. It was difficult to tell. Part of me wanted to err on the side of caution, but something tells me this young lady is every bit the actress she seems to think she is both on and off camera.

When Vendela takes her YouTube film-making one step too far and endangers the life of a teacher whom she has “befriended”, things get ugly fast. It’s difficult to watch someone use suicide to get more viewers. But the sad reality is that it’s more common than it should be, and it’s concerning.

The actress that plays Vendela is nothing short of amazing as the wicked little YouTuber. She carries off just the right amount of sensitivity with a yearning expression, enough to suck anybody in. Under that sad and lonely face hides a grimace ready for the camera and the next upload, and nothing’s stopping her from becoming YouTube famous (or should that be infamous?)
