Like any film lover, we’ve always enjoyed finding out little-known pieces of movie trivia and celebrating behind-the-scenes moments that capture something perhaps not seen in the final cut.

This image of Heath Ledger (R.I.P) as the Joker and Christian Bale as Batman in the highly acclaimed The Dark Knight is today’s BTS moment in history:

Did You Know?

  1. The huge action scene where the 18-wheeler truck is flipped on its head was not a special effect? Yup, it was actually flipped and filmed as it happened.
  2. The Dark Knight was the first movie to be filmed using IMAX cameras and was also the first movie to break one during filming. That wouldn’t be such a big deal today except at the time there were only four IMAX cameras in the world and they cost 250k!
  3. When the Joker walks out of the elevator and gatecrashes Bruce Wayne’s party, Michael Caine was so alarmed by Heath Ledger’s appearance, he forgot his lines.
  4. Christian Bale confirmed that he never actually rode on the Bat Bike because it was too dangerous to ride.
  5. The Dark Knight is considered by many to be one of the best films of all time and currently sits in fourth place on IMDb as rated by IMDb users.
