As reported by Stuff earlier this year, there are seven international film and TV productions that have been given exemption to work in New Zealand. Most of the cast and crew for these productions are already in New Zealand or have already been to New Zealand as part of the production.
Those productions are in no particular order;
Avatar 2 with James Cameron (Director)
The Power of the Dog with Jane Campion (Director)
The Lord of the Rings TV Series (Amazon)
Cowboy Bebop
The Greatest Beer Run Ever
We are excited about anything to do with Avatar 2 and The Lord of the Rings TV series, both of which will be massive productions and great for New Zealandβs economy.
As a side note, James Cameron wrote a letter to the Minister of Economic Development, Phil Twyford, detailing his pitch to continue working in New Zealand, and his plans to do all of his future film productions here.
Who could say no to that?
