After binging the entire Back to the Future franchise of films, we can safely say that the original still stands as the best of the bunch hands-down. But you might be surprised to see which movie from the franchise was rated second best and so were we!
In today’s post we break down each BTTF movie with mini-reviews and thoughts which you can expand on in our Podcast right here.
Let’s head back to the future!
17 year old Marty McFly got home early last night. 30 years early.– Tagline
Back to the Future kind of was a movie about the future written in 1985. It was one of the very first films to explore the idea of time travel from a perspective that audiences at the time could relate to. It also featured some pretty cool futuristic gadgets which almost everyone thought was cool and it had a damn good lead and co-lead acting duo in Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
The gist of the film follows teenager Marty McFly played by Fox and his whacky friend the “Doc” played by Christopher Lloyd as they stumble upon a way to travel to the future. And all sorts of mayhem seems to follow them wherever they go no matter how far ahead they think they are. Fate has a weird way of finding its way right back to them again.
The best film in the entire Back to the Future collection, you really should check this one out if you’re at all interested in silly nonsense, cool gadgets and time travel antics that could only be pulled off in the 80s!

Apparently we weren’t goofed out enough by these two mucking around with the space-time continuum! We needed a second dose to really get back to the future but this time, its 2015. And really, there is only one major defining moment in this film that nobody will forget and that is – NIKE MAGS!
They’ve saved the best trip for last… But this time they may have gone too far.-Tagline
This time they’re travelling all the way back to 1885 and while we’re not quite sure we wanted or needed a third movie, it turns out that the third instalment is actually better than the second film for many reasons. Don’t take our word for it though, check it out yourself!
As far as trilogies go, BTTF isn’t too bad and the futuristic aspects of the film really were revolutionary for its time. It’s also interesting to see what people in the 80s thought the future of 2015 would look like and it was enjoyable going back to the future again to set the history records straight to all live happily ever after.
