While researching for our deleted scenes post, we came across some interesting information perfect for Fact or Fiction. And we did not know that the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was based on real events.
According to this article in Elle Magazine, director Martin McDonagh had the idea to write this story when he was driving through the US on a greyhound bus. His bus drove past similar billboards in Texas. Here’s an excerpt of the details of the true-life, unsolved crime:
